APOLLO DECOSTA - THE SHIELD

teachers' aide, 22, FtM

The walls of the museum echoed with his footsteps, even as Apollo tried to quiet them. The school had taken a field trip out to the museum; Apollo had been waved off to do a sweep of the common areas, to make sure no kids had been left behind - or snuck off to stay behind intentionally. The things their students did... Apollo sighed at the thought, glaring aimlessly as he walked down the hallway, idly sweeping his eyes over the various paintings and sculptures. Rounding up stray children was the least wanted part of his job, but someone had to do it and as a teachers' assistant and not yet an actual teacher, Apollo had been given the task.
Following the turn of the hallway, Apollo stopped briefly to catch his breath, drinking from a nearby water fountain. Wiping his mouth with his hand - nobody was around to see - he took a moment to look more closely at the paintings nearby. He wasn't one for art; he never had been, although he enjoyed the aesthetic of the colors and things, he always had preferred the written word over swoops of line and color. Half the Mansion knew they could find him more often than not in the school's library on his downtime - although the school traded off teachers doing librarian work, Apollo had found himself becoming something of a fixture to the students who ventured into the quiet, spacious room in search of knowledge.
Wiping his hand on his pants, the short-haired mutant shook his head slightly at the abstract painting in front of him - lots of orange, yellows, and vivid blues all smashed together; it kind of vaguely formed a face, if he'd been pressed to guess. Or maybe a tree. A mountain? He'd seen better works of art from the food-fights that regularly erupted at Xaviers'. "I don't understand art." Apollo sighed. Time to get moving; don't want the bus to leave without me... He thought, plain sneakers squeaking slightly against the tile as he turned the next corner - now keeping an eye out for both errant students and whoever the teacher was that had gotten sent to look for kids with him.words; 367 tags; @jubilee notes; yay, wandering around on a field trip
