The year is 2015.
Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr have passed away some years ago. The X-Men and Brotherhood both have disbanded, adrift without their leaders and beset by public and political pressures.
Given the chance at a semi-normal life, a couple of these famous mutants have settled down, had kids, gotten normal jobs that don't involve spandex or giant robots. Some X-Men still fight mutant crime and the last few active members of the Brotherhood. Meanwhile, Xaviers' School for the Gifted is going strong once again - old and new faces coming through the doors every day.
Unfortunately for the world, with the good comes the bad. There have been increasing numbers of abnormal crimes - blame, deserved or not, landing on mutants. Some of those accusations are even true; active mutants have grown in numbers since M-Day, and the Brotherhood is starting to recruit. Mutant gene activation isn't back to its' former glory, but those who hate and fear mutant-kind are readying to fight anyway.
How these new situations unfold is up to you - all the world can do is keep evolving.
